Private guided two days tour to see the highlights of ancient Luxor and Aswan, starting from Luxor. These highlights include Valley of the Kings (Necropolis of Thebes), the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the Colossi of Memnon, Karnak, Philae Temple and the Aswan High Dam. You will be guided by a licensed Egyptologist tour guide and transported to all the sites by a private air-conditioned vehicle.
In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Luxor by an air-conditioned vehicle that will take you to the Valley of the Kings, the Necropolis of Thebes. Here you have the possibility of visiting the most famous attraction, the Tomb of Tutankhamun (which carries an extra charge). Your Egyptologist will be on hand to recommend and advise you as to which tombs to visit. This ancient necropolis is a must-see for Luxor travelers. Later, you will be taken to the impressive mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the only woman ever to reign over Egypt as pharaoh. Then you will visit the Colossi of Memnon. With a height of nearly 18 meters, these two statues originally stood in front of the mortuary Temple of Amenophis III, of which only ruins remain. After this visit of the West Bank you will have lunch, after which you will be taken to Karnak on the East Bank of Luxor. Karnak is a complex of temples built in different reigns, starting with the Avenue of Sphinxes, the Hypostyle Hall with its 134 gigantic columns, the Obelisks of Queen Hatshepsut and Tutomosis I, the Temple of Amon adorned with lotus and papyrus designs, the Granite Scarbeus of Amenophis III and the Sacred Lake. Karnak beats every other pharaonic monument: it is simply one of the most beautiful ancient monuments in Egypt.
After touring the sites you will be transferred to Aswan by train and upon arrival you will be taken to your accommodation.
Early in the morning you have the possibility to visit Abu Simbel Temples (additional cost). After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel in Aswan by an air-conditioned vehicle to start your day tour. First you visit Philae Temple which was built in honor of goddess Isis, the chief deity of the island the temple was built on. It is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt. Then you will visit the High Dam, an engineering miracle used as an embankment dam situated across the Nile River, built in the 1960’s to protect Egypt from annual floods.
After touring the sites you will be transferred any Aswan port for your further travels.
