Western Desert Oasis Safari from Luxor

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Kharga Oasis
You will be picked up from your hotel in Luxor by an air-conditioned vehicle to go to Kharga Oasis (approx. 5 hours) in the Western Desert. On the way from Luxor you will drive through sand dunes to Kharga, the capital oasis of the New Valley. There you visit one of the oldest Christian cemeteries in the world, the Necropolis of El Bagawat. In some of the tombs you can see colorful paintings of biblical scenes, such as the Exodus of Moses, the sacrifice of Isaac by Abraham and Noah’s Ark. After visiting the tombs you visit Hibis Temple, which was dedicated to the sun god Amun. Then you will lunch, after which you check in to your hotel where you can enjoy the rest of the day as you like. For instance, you can go swimming in the natural Hot and Cold Springs. Its water contains iron, magnesium, sulfur and chloride and has a healing element which is good for rheumatism, colds, skin diseases and kidney stones. You spend the night in a hotel in Kharga (Meals included: Lunch and dinner).

Day 2

Dakhla Oasis
After breakfast you drive to Dakhla Oasis. Here you can see the beauty of El Qasr, the oldest and still inhabited Islamic town in the Western Desert, and also the Tombs of El Mozawaka, that include fresco’s made during the Greco-Roman occupation. You will have lunch with a Bedouin family, after which you enjoy a 2-hour camel trek through the Oasis of Dakhla. During this trek you can see the sunset and you set up camp in the sand dunes, where you will have a barbecue in the open air and sleep under the star-filled sky (Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner).

Day 3

Departure
After breakfast in your desert camp you will be transferred back to your hotel in Luxor. On the way to Luxor you will have lunch (Meals included: Breakfast and lunch).
