Private Day Trip from Luxor to Edfu and Kom Ombo

Tour Details

Detailed program

In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel in Luxor by an air-conditioned car that takes you across the Barrage to Edfu on the East side of the Nile.

In Edfu, you will visit the Temple of Horus, which is dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus. This relatively young pharaonic temple is well-preserved and very impressive.

After this, you will be taken to see the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek. The temple, dating back to the Ptolemies, is built on a high dune overlooking the Nile.

Ptolemy VI Philometor started the construction of the temple in the early second century BC, and Ptolemy XIII added the outer and inner hypostyle halls. The outer enclosure wall and part of the court were built by Augustus after 30 BC, though much of it is now gone. There are also Old Kingdom tombs near the Kom Ombo village.

After touring the temples, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Luxor by an air-conditioned vehicle.
